First to show jump and cross country was Bailey. He jumped a clear round in the showjumping and went on to do a clear cross country in the time!
Talk us through your showjumping on Bailey
He jumped a clear round which is the most important thing. It perhaps wasn’t the most fluent round he has ever done but he tried which is the main thing. In years gone by he would have charged off and not really cared about the poles but he really tried to leave them up and thats a big thing for him to get a clear round.
Talk me through your cross country round with Bailey
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant, very fluent no issues anywhere to be honest. It rode like it walked. Some areas were pretty tough and caught a lot of other riders out but we had no issues and time was pretty much spot on. I am really pleased with him
Having rode the cross country did you have any further thoughts for your second ride – Billy?
Yes, they are polar opposites really. One is a big 17.2hh Irish sports horse and one is a 15.2hh warmblood. I thought the time was going to be tricky for Billy. However I rode the same lines for both horses and they were both fab.
Bailey and Dan finished a very respectable 30th out of 103 competitors with only 85 completing and to go double clear is fantastic. They head to Rockingham after this to compete in their first Novice so we shall wish them the best of luck
